Especially when stainless steel elbows are welded, carbides are precipitated after repeated heating, which reduces corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The hardenability after welding is relatively large, and cracks are easy to occur. If the same type of electrode is used for welding, preheating above 300°C and slow cooling treatment at about 700°C after welding must be carried out. If the weldment cannot be subjected to post-weld heat treatment, chromium-nickel stainless steel electrodes should be used. In order to improve the corrosion resistance and weldability of stainless steel elbows, appropriate amount of stability elements Ti, Nb, Mo, etc. are added appropriately, and the weldability is better.
Copper elbows can be formed by cold or hot processing methods such as bending, extrusion, pushing, and molding, but the forming method should be such that no harmful defects are generated. When copper elbows are allowed to be manufactured by forging or rods, hammer forging, press forging, piercing, rolling and other forming manufacturing methods can be used. The manufacturing process should ensure that the shape of the arc transition part of the pipe fitting is smooth when the pipe fitting is formed. The end should be grooved, and its size and shape should meet the requirements. Pipe fittings formed by cold working should be subjected to stress-relieving heat treatment after forming.
